“From the age of 13 I suffered from hay-fever and nothing the doctor did helped. My mother took me to a homeopath and my hay-fever went, and it also helped greatly with allergies and asthma. It’s the most effective treatment I have ever tried including conventional medicine.”

Colds: be prepared for Winter viruses

A sore or gritty throat? Cough? Runny nose? Generally feeling tired and unwell? We all know these symptoms well, and unfortunately many of us will have started to experience some of them in the last few weeks as Winter comes onto the horizon and the common cold rears its ugly head. Whilst colds are only a mild, self-limiting, viral, upper respiratory tract infection, they can make you feel pretty rotten for a few days and interfere with your everyday life.

It’s always better to try and build up your immunity if you can, so as to limit the likelihood of getting a cold, but there are some things you can do to ease the symptoms and recover quicker if you do get one.

Make sure you get lots of rest and drink water to keep hydrated, and a hot honey and lemon is always a good way to ease a sore throat. You might also want to give homeopathy a try, which is widely used for many of the symptoms of the common cold. It’s a natural, gentle and sustainable form of medicine which supports the body to heal itself.

You can find a registered homeopath in your area right here at www.findahomeopath.org

If you prefer to try something at home, then Arsen Alb is indicated for a streaming cold with burning discharge from the eyes and nose. If you feel you can’t keep warm, and symptoms are worse at night, then this might be the remedy for you. Aconite is for the early stages of a cold, brought on by exposure or being chilled. There are many remedies which can be used depending on your specific symptoms though. It's best to get expert advice.

It is pretty likely that you and your family will feel the effects of the common cold at some point between now and Spring, so you may even want to keep a homeopathic remedy kit at home just in case.

Resilience - strengthening your body and mind

The weather’s changing, schools are back, and we start spending more time indoors. At this time of year our immune performance can lower. The drop in temperature, increased rain and humidity, and lack of Vitamin D can all increase our susceptivity to nasty viruses.

Now is the time to build our resilience for the months ahead. Resilience is our ability to positively adapt to challenges that our body faces. These challenges can be both mental and physical.

Homeopathy is a natural form of medicine that is used by millions of people around the world to support their health and wellbeing. It can be used to build resilience and support our body in tackling these challenges. It’s sustainable too, so good for your body and the planet.

A registered homeopath will look at you as whole person, as an individual, and not a person with lots of symptoms. This whole person homeopathic approach is particularly relevant when looking at building resilience, as it can enhance the body’s built in ability to tackle disease. A registered homeopath will tailor a remedy specifically for your own circumstances. Find a homeopath near you right here at www.findahomeopath.org.

Autumn: Change and Challenges

It’s that time of year again. The Summer is disappearing into the rear view mirror and many of us are preparing to slot back into our daily routine, whether that’s children returning to school or us heading back to the office after some downtime in August. It can feel like a time of change and uncertainty, causing anxiety and stress.

It’s all too easy to overlook these health strains as we focus our efforts on getting ready for the weeks ahead. That shouldn’t be the case. Some of these stresses will be short lived, and will pass naturally. Others can just stay with us for weeks or longer if we don’t do something to address them and their underlying causes, and even become chronic and long term.

Homeopathy offers a natural, sustainable and gentle option. It's a complete, whole-person system of medicine, and provides the opportunity to get to the root cause of mental, emotional and physical illness. It’s kind to your body and the environment.

As an individualised medicine, it’s always better to consult a registered homeopath if you can, as they will go through your medical history and symptoms, and prescribe a remedy specifically tailored to you personally. You can find a homeopath in your area right here at https://www.findahomeopath.org/

However, if you prefer to try a remedy at home, you could try Calc Carb, which is often recommended when someone is apprehensive and wants to control the status quo, and doesn’t want to face change. Argent Nit can also be helpful for apprehension when someone dwells on an event and is convinced something will go wrong. Phos Ac is worth a try if you just need help re-energising yourself, especially where there is nervous exhaustion with mental weakness after a period of stress or illness.

Whatever you do, don’t neglect your health. This could be the perfect time to try homeopathy.

Minor injuries

We may not all be Olympic athletes, but at this time of year many of us are out and about keeping active, whether that’s walks or a gentle cycle ride, or more strenuous sports and activities. Unfortunately, that makes us susceptible to a range of sprains, strains and minor injuries. Obviously it’s better to limit the likelihood of an injury with a proper warm up, appropriate clothing or equipment for your activity, and ensure that you warm down afterwards. However, we can’t always avoid a minor injury or two.

If you do find that you have a sprain or strain then homeopathy can offer some relief. If you haven’t tried homeopathy before it’s a natural, sustainable and whole-person medicine which treats you as an individual. It supports the body’s built in healing mechanism. A registered homeopath will look at all of your symptoms, and recommend a suitable homeopathic remedy. If you want to try homeopathy, book a consultation with a registered homeopath right here at www.findahomeopath.org.

If you’d like to give homeopathy a try at home first then there are a wide range of homeopathic remedies which are widely used for sprains, strains and sports related injuries. Bryonia is used for inflammatory and painful conditions that come on slowly and are worse for any movement. Rhus tox could be the right option for swollen joints from over-exertion, tearing pains in tendons and ligaments, or stiffness in limbs. And don’t forget that arnica is great for bruising and pain from injury and trauma.

Whatever you choose, just make sure you address any injuries so they don’t turn into a chronic condition which can be more complex and difficult to treat.

Travel Sickness

With longer days here, many of us will be planning holidays, day trips and family days out. That means getting into some means of transport - cars, planes, coaches, boats and trains. This, for some people, tarnishes the joy and excitement of the trip by the journey itself to get there.

Many people suffer from travel sickness, which can really ruin any trip. Symptoms can include nausea, breaking out in a cold sweat, and headaches. When it affects children, it can be especially challenging for school trips and family days out.

The good news is that homeopathy is widely used for travel sickness and anxiety related to travel, and can be a valuable tool for the whole family. There are a wide range of homeopathic remedies for all kinds of travel sickness and related symptoms. If you want to try a remedy at home then Aconite could be the one for you. It’s widely used when you’re simply very frightened, like a panic attack or intense anxiety about something specific such as flying. Cocculus prevents and removes the nausea from undulating motion, so can be effective in sea sickness. There are many other remedies you can try though, and when you find the right one you can put an end your travel related symptoms for good.

It’s always better to consult a registered homeopath if you can, as they will get to the root cause of the problem, and choose a remedy to fit your individual characteristics. Homeopathy promotes the body’s natural ability to heal, and is a natural and sustainable healthcare option which is kind to your body and the environment.
